The George Washington University (GW) and Howard University (HU) are excited to announce the newly established Entrepreneur Development Network DC (EDNDC) powered by Wells Fargo. Built on the premise that strong partnerships across the District of Columbia will pay dividends to entrepreneurs and the economy alike, this program is FREE to all participants, thanks to generous donations from our sponsors Wells Fargo, WDCEP, and PEPCO.

EDNDC includes FREE training programs and counseling services offered through instructors and local mentors and counselors. This program helps startups develop successful business models and go-to-market (GTM) strategies based on knowledge derived through customer interviews; it's the necessary steps for inventors and entrepreneurs bringing new technologies and innovations to market or pivoting when old models that no longer work (for instance, due to the pandemic). It is an ideal program for early-stage companies building towards successful launches.

We are looking for entrepreneurs in the District to participate in our programming in 2022. As a condition of applying to the EDNDC program, entrepreneurs must participate in at least one Introduction to Lean Innovation Course. The Introduction to Lean Innovation Course is a two hour workshop, where entrepreneurs will gain understanding of evidence-based innovation methods. Registration for the course can be found at the bottom of this page. The Introduction to Lean Innovation Course is a two hour workshop, where entrepreneurs will gain understanding of evidence-based innovation methods. Registration for the course can be found at the bottom of this page. Additionally, we are especially interested in supporting entrepreneurs who are looking to pivot their business model due to interruptions and risks caused by COVID as well as new entrepreneurs taking advantage of opportunities posed by the pandemic. The Introductory course is a 2.5-week intensive startup assistance program targeting early-stage, innovative high-growth potential companies. Using Lean Startup as its principal methodology, entrepreneurs learn how to identify their initial customer segment, validate their ideas, and develop business models that investors would more likely fund. With mentoring and expert guidance, ICAP teams create a roadmap to early success in order to increase their potential to attract investment opportunities for funding and growth. Your ICAP Mentor works with you and your team one-on-one for customized support for the duration of the course and beyond.

This course teaches the key concepts of the Customer Discovery during five (3-hour) sessions. In addition to the five sessions, there is extensive work done “outside the classroom”. Participants should expect to spend another 10 to 15, or more, hours per week conducting customer discovery interviews and on course assignments. Each participating ICAP team is required to complete a minimum of 20 customer discovery interviews over the duration of the introductory course. At the conclusion of the program, the participants remain connected to their ICAP Mentors for follow-on advising and support.

It sounds simple, but this method is central to Agile Software Development, Design Thinking, and Lean Startup concepts.

Mid-Atlantic Therapeutics Focused Cohort

The Mid-Atlantic Hub will offer an I-Corps cohort for “therapeutics related”researchers and technologies from June 14 through July 12, 2024. The training and guidance in this cohort will be specifically tailored to the needs of researchers planning to serve the complex ecosystems surrounding therapeutic innovation.

Who is eligible?

Any researcher working on a technology related to new drug discovery, development, delivery, or treatment. Typical technologies would include new drug ingredient/compound/formulations; software and/or hardware tools, including assays, focused on research, development, or production; drug delivery methods; and combination device-drug treatments.However, companion diagnostics (paired with existing therapies) would also qualify. The common link across all cohort teams will be gaining an understanding of the therapeutic industry ecosystem. All technology teams will be identifying customer needs in therapeutic development and delivery through customer discovery. This will also include common business development pathways for servicing the pharma industry and bringing a therapeutic to market.

The George Washington University (GW) and Howard University (HU) are excited to announce the newly established Entrepreneur Development Network DC (EDNDC) powered by Wells Fargo. Built on the premise that strong partnerships across the District of Columbia will pay dividends to entrepreneurs and the economy alike, this program is FREE to all participants, thanks to generous donations from our sponsors Wells Fargo, WDCEP, and PEPCO.

EDNDC includes FREE training programs and counseling services offered through instructors and local mentors and counselors. This program helps startups develop successful business models and go-to-market (GTM) strategies based on knowledge derived through customer interviews; it's the necessary steps for inventors and entrepreneurs bringing new technologies and innovations to market or pivoting when old models that no longer work (for instance, due to the pandemic). It is an ideal program for early-stage companies building towards successful launches.

We are looking for entrepreneurs in the District to participate in our programming in 2022. As a condition of applying to the EDNDC program, entrepreneurs must participate in at least one Introduction to Lean Innovation Course. The Introduction to Lean Innovation Course is a two hour workshop, where entrepreneurs will gain understanding of evidence-based innovation methods. Registration for the course can be found at the bottom of this page. Additionally, we are especially interested in supporting entrepreneurs who are looking to pivot their business model due to interruptions and risks caused by COVID as well as new entrepreneurs taking advantage of opportunities posed by the pandemic.
