The NSF I-Corps Mid-Atlantic Hub is hiring four interns to assist in developing the program's new I-Corps Learning Platform. Read more about the positions below, and apply here if you are interested in a position.
Frontend Developer Intern: $18/hr, 10–12 hrs/week
Builds the web interface that I-Corps teams use to document customer interviews, track hypothesis evolution, and visualize their learning progress. Develops React-based dashboards and role-based views (for teams, instructors, and mentors), integrates frontend components with backend APIs, and implements responsive, accessible UI components. Requires experience with React.js, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience translating wireframes into UI components, familiarity with Tailwind CSS and React Router, and basic understanding of UX/UI principles are preferred.
Backend Developer Intern: $18/hr, 10–12 hrs/week
Develops the server infrastructure that powers I-Corps program delivery, supporting learning content management, interview tracking, team scheduling, and AI-assisted analysis workflows. Works with Python, relational databases, authentication systems, and background processing to ensure reliable platform performance. Requires experience with Python, REST APIs, relational databases, and secure data handling. Experience with FastAPI, AWS services, background task processing, and deployment environments is preferred.
AI / Data Engineer Intern: $18–$22/hr, 10–12 hrs/week
Implements AI-assisted tools that help I-Corps teams analyze customer interviews, refine hypotheses, and develop evidence-based personas. Integrates large language model APIs to support pattern recognition across interviews, manages asynchronous processing workflows, and monitors output quality to ensure useful insights. Requires experience with Python, data workflows, and AI/ML APIs. Experience with OpenAI APIs, prompt engineering, transcription tools, and understanding of AI bias and limitations is preferred.
Product Design Intern: $18–$22/hr, 10–12 hrs/weekDesigns user experiences that help entrepreneurial teams navigate the I-Corps methodology, from hypothesis generation to customer discovery to pivot decisions. Responsibilities include translating I-Corps learning objectives into intuitive workflows, creating wireframes and interface specifications for the platform, producing clear visual materials to support team onboarding and instruction, collaborating with developers to implement designs, and incorporating feedback from I-Corps participants. Requires experience in product design, product management, or UX/UI design with strong visual communication skills. Experience with Figma and creating presentation decks or instructional videos is preferred.
