Hub Company Profile: Prompt Diagnostics

Prompt Diagnostics is building a low-cost, portable platform that can deliver lab-quality diagnostics to guide treatment in any clinical setting. With gold-standard PCR assays delivered in minutes, the company’s tests could enable clinicians to prescribe targeted therapy during a first patient visit.

Prompt Diagnostics’ tests miniaturize and automate sample extraction and the amplification of DNA and RNA targets in affordable cartridges. High multiplexing capabilities allow the company’s platform to not only identify multiple diseases simultaneously, but also genotype a wide variety of mutations to evaluate variants and predict antibiotic resistance in an era of rapidly evolving pathogens.

Prompt Diagnostics’ platform development for an array of infectious diseases is supported by funding from NIH, NSF, CDC, and the Maryland Innovation Initiative.

“Participation in I-Corps provided invaluable feedback from potential customers and clinical operators that has helped guide our company’s technical direction and commercial strategy.”
